Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Drosophila Geneticist/Neurobiologist – Dissecting the Causal Role of Sleep in Cardiovascular Disease
The Saxena/Walker Labs at the Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM), Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) are seeking a highly motivated and independent entry-level Post-Doctoral Research Fellow for a collaborative project with an interdisciplinary team of scientists. This project will investigate the connections between sleep and cardiovascular disease using Drosophila as a model system. We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated individual with a passion for genetics, quantitative biology and behavioral neurobiology. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be situated in the CGM/MGH under the guidance and mentorship of both Dr. Richa Saxena and Dr. James Walker.
Candidate should be an innovative, data-driven, analytical thinker with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be highly disciplined and organized, with first class record-keeping skills.
Planning and execution of wet-lab experiments (including Drosophila genetics, physiology, behavior, cellular neurobiology and molecular biology)
Documentation and statistical analyses of experimental data.
Literature searches for relevant information needed to conduct and interpret experiments, and the preparation of summaries of experimental results
Maintenance of a laboratory notebook and digital records in accordance with Institute guidelines.
Ph.D. in genetics, neurobiology or a related field.
Working knowledge of cutting-edge genetics, behavioral neurobiology and molecular biology techniques
Experience in basic quantitative methods for analyzing biological data. Experience with coding and use of data-analysis software would be a plus but is not required.
Positive attitude and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Outstanding academic record of accomplishments.
