MGH CGM/ NHGRI Strategic Planning Town Hall

July 17, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 4:00 pm

Dear Colleagues,

On July 17, 2019, the Center for Genomic Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) will host a genomics Town Hall in partnership with the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).

NHGRI is in the middle of a major strategic planning effort, one that aims to yield a ‘2020 vision for genomics’ and that will culminate in the publication of a new NHGRI strategic plan in October 2020. As with past strategic planning efforts, NHGRI is soliciting input from the broader research and public communities to help shape the 2020 strategic plan.

The goal of the July 17 Town Hall is to gather ideas and feedback from researchers, industry experts, healthcare professionals, and other interested stakeholders in the Boston area about current and future opportunities in genomics research and the application of genomics to medicine. As NHGRI moves past the half-way point of this strategic planning process, the Institute is pivoting from gathering open-ended input to seeking feedback on major themes that have emerged from the process. Towards that end, the  July 17 Town Hall will focus on genomic variation identification, association, and function in human health and disease.

The main session of the Town Hall will take place from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm on July 17. It will be followed by a trainee-only session from 2:00 to 3:00 pm. Both events will take place in the 3rd Floor Conference Room at the Richard B. Simches Research Building on the MGH main campus. Registration for this event is required. To enter the building, you will need to bring an ID with you. A map of the MGH campus is attached.
